I have been asked many times why I represent clients charged with DUI. There is a stigma attached to those charged with DUI, and the damage they have caused to countless lives is very real. My philosophy has always been that I cannot prevent a DUI that has already happened, but by giving compassionate and comprehensive representation to my clients I can help prevent them from happening in the future.
There are times my clients are innocent, and I will fight with passion and precision to exonerate them. DUI law is complex and having taught multiple CLEs to other lawyers on the subject and authored a chapter in a book on DUI representation, I have the experience and knowledge to fiercely defend those clients wrongly accused of this serious crime.
Other times my clients are guilty, and in those situations I am proud to guide my clients though the legal process to minimize the negative consequences they face but also maximize the assistance they receive in their life to address the underlying problem and provide them with the necessary help to improve their lives in every aspect. There is nothing more fulfilling to me as a lawyer than knowing the guidance and resources I provided a client helped them overcome a problem with alcohol, improving every other aspect of their life and possibly preventing a future DUI.
